Welcome to our School

The O.M. Roy Memorial Higher Secondary School which was founded on the tenants of hard work has maintained its commitment of providing quality education and producing exceptionally talented students with the highest caliber. The school throughout its journey has withstood the test of time and hold on to its motto, ‘Work Hard to Meet Our Goal’. It is with deep sense of responsibility towards the state that the son- in- law of Late Obli Mohon Roy Khardewsaw, Shri. T. Losskingdronath Pariong initiated setting up of the school with the primary objective fight again the social evils and weaknesses of the society by imparting sound knowledge to the children and younger generation of the area. Backed by the support of the entire family the school was established on 20th February, 1992 with only the LP and ME level and was known as the O M Roy Memorial LP & ME School at Mawlai Kynton Massar, which will not only uplift the mental, social and physical needs to all students but to fulfill the intellectual and moral requirement of the students pertaining to the up- to-date standard of education. In those days, the school was housed at the residence of Mrs Aidalis Syiemlieh free of cost with only ten rooms including the Headmistress and Teacher’s common room. However, despite the constraints, the school was granted an opening permission from Class IV to Class VI in 1993.

Mr. T. L Pariong who was the Secretary Managing Committee further sent proposals for up gradation of the school to secondary section which was granted in 1998. The School, in 1997-98 introduced Class IX and X and was granted permission by the Government in 2003.

In 1997 the school was shifted from the house of Mrs A. Syiemlieh to a new building at Mawlai Kynton Massar , which is designed to provide learning spaces and learning environments for students and accessible to the rural areas. The school was regularized and affiliated to the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) in 2006-2007 and in 2011 the school was upgraded to class XI and XII in Arts Stream.

While the percentage of students passing the SSLC examination improve every year that it reached up to 98% the school made progress not only academically but also in games and sports and other extra – curricular activities . The unforgettable year was 2013 when the school’s under- 17 football was the winner of the international Subroto Mukherjee Cup Tournament held at Ambedkar Stadium, New Delhi. Besides their keen interest in football, the school had interest in other games and sports like boxing, archery and other disciplines. It was in 2013 that the school’s boxing team won the Inter-School Boxing Tournament.
